At the Sierra Leone Meteorological Services, we train the next generation of meteorologists to use and merge innovative and established methods to provide weather-related services to the community and business partners within Sierra Leone. Whether it's the Agriculture industry, Building and Construction, Tourism, Mining, Insurance and Aerospace we will provide you with all the information you need.
Aviation 
We aim to provide you with the best service possible to improve flight safety and we're continually looking at how we can improve and refine our Aviation Services.
Environmental 
We are concerned with atmospheric environmental quality, which is directly related to human activities and affects human health.
Marine
Our Marine weather services are responsible for oversight of the Marine Programs. The programs provide current, accurate information relating to the Sierra Leonean coast.
Climate Change
This is the most critical global environmental issue we face today. At the Sierra Leone Meteorological Department, we provide an integrated approach to sustainability challenges.

Meet Our Partners

As weather, climate and the water cycle know no national boundaries, international cooperation at a global scale is essential for the development of meteorology,
climatology and operational hydrology as well as to reap the benefits from their application. WMO provides the framework for such international cooperation.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is a scientific and intergovernmental body under the auspices of the United Nations, set up at the request of member governments, dedicated to the task of providing the world with an objective, scientific view of climate change and its political and economic impacts. 
UNDP was established 50 years ago in 1965 and has had a presence in Sierra Leone since 1977. We have been working in partnership with the Government of Sierra Leone, development partners, UN agencies, civil society and local communities, contributing to democratic governance, peace and sustainable developemnt. A valued, trusted and reliable development partner, UNDP’s work focuses on initiatives that support the consolidation of peace and help facilitate the transition to long-term development within the framework of the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the country’s development agenda - The Agenda for Prosperity.

The United Nations Environment Programme is an agency of United Nations and coordinates its environmental activities, assisting developing countries in implementing environmentally sound policies and practices.
The transport sector consists of three modes, namely, road, maritime and air transportation. All of these modes are being regulated by statutory bodies whilst the Ministry handles policy matters for the effective execution of the mandate of the under-mentioned parastatals and departments supervised by the Ministry.

The Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) is a system that comprises the climate-relevant components of many contributing observing systems and networks. The mission of the GCOS programme is to help ensure that these contributing systems, taken as a whole, provide the comprehensive information on the global climate system that is required by users, including individuals, national and international organizations, institutions and agencies. The programme promotes the sustained provision and availability of reliable physical, chemical and biological observations and data records for the total climate system - across the atmospheric, oceanic and terrestrial domains, including the Hydrological cycle, the Carbon cycle and the Cryosphere.

The African Centre of Meteorological Application for Development (ACMAD) is the Weather and Climate Centre with African continental competence. Its mission is to provide weather and climate information and promote sustainable development in Africa (notably within the context of national strategies for poverty eradication), in the fields of agriculture, water resources, health, public safety and renewable energy-The African Centre of Meterological Application for Development(ACMAD)
