The Sierra Leone Meteorological Agency (SLMet) provides essential marine weather information to ensure safe navigation and maritime operations along Sierra Leone's Atlantic coastline and offshore waters. Our Marine weather services are responsible for oversight of the Marine Programs, providing current, accurate information relating to the Sierra Leonean coast, coastal and offshore waters. Our Services We operate four oceanographic monitoring stations at Tagrin, Government Wharf, Shenge and Bonthe, linked to our headquarters in Freetown through advanced telemetry systems. Hydro-Meteorological Monitoring Our marine meteorologists deliver comprehensive weather forecasts, sea state conditions, and maritime safety warnings to support fishing fleets, commercial shipping, port operations, recreational boating, and coastal communities whose livelihoods depend on safe access to Sierra Leone's marine resources.
